In 1890s Napa Valley, the Roman wine press (featuring a massive wooden lever) was in common use. We used our press for the last time in 1955, but it can still be seen at the winery today.
This wine is a blend of Primitivo 78% and Petite Sirah 22%, hand-harvested and cellared in 50% new and 50% neutral American oak. A medium-bodied wine with aromas and flavors of dark fruits and red cherry, with some creamy vanilla and notes of smoke and black pepper. Soft tannins round out a defined finish. A family favorite blend since 1972, it is excellent with red meats and classic Italian dishes.
