Nichelini Family Winery
The Oldest Family-Owned Winery in Napa Valley
Velvety and layered, a delicious pairing with duck, roast turkey, grilled vegetables or a cheese board.
A Merlot even for those who say they don't like Merlot - this vintage has received our highest “Reserve” status. It reflects the concentrated depth of flavor that 39-year-old vines can produce, with a stronger presence and fuller body than one might normally expect from the varietal. Deep garnet color, with intense flavors of red cherry rounded out with vanilla, and enriching notes of anise, allspice, cocoa, and some toasted oak in the nose. Hand-harvested in the cool of the night and aged in 100% new American oak, this exceptional wine stood out right from the start. Velvety and layered, a delicious pairing with duck, roast turkey, grilled vegetables or a cheese board.
Gold, 93 pts.~ Harvest Challenge
This vintage’s fruit comes from 39-year-old vines. I have watched this vineyard develop over the years, and it is now in its prime in maturity. The backbone of the fruit made exceptional starting material that developed into the complex flavors exhibited here, supported by the presence of the new American oak.
