About This Item

In 1890s Napa Valley, the Roman wine press (featuring a massive wooden lever) was in common use. We used our press for the last time in 1955, but it can still be seen at the winery today.

This wine is a blend of 67% Zinfandel and 33% Petite Sirah and cellared in 50% new and 50% neutral American oak. A gorgeous ruby red color, this medium-bodied wine with a bouquet of raspberry, strawberry, fresh cut oak, and even bourbon. The flavors evoke notes or strawberry, tart red cherry, raspberry, cloves, and vanilla. A family favorite blend since 1972, it is excellent with red meats and classic Italian dishes.

Winemaker Notes

Great Zinfandel and Petite Sirah blends are a long-time family secret. Since we have been successfully blending these varietals since 1972, I carry on this traditional Nichelini blend during my stewardship. Its flavors are expressed to the fullest in delicious harmony: the ripe red-berry fruit from Zinfandel and the dark inky color and tannins from Petite Sirah. Winemaker: Aimée Sunseri, 5th generation
